When zebras go pale…

Top: Zebras are sometimes born with tan stripes.  These are called white zebras. This one is not a true albino, but leucistic…like a white tiger. They have a tan muzzle and dark eyes.

Middle: This little guy was reported in 2004 as an albino zebra found among a normal colored wild herd in Kenya.

Bottom: A true albino zebra with pink eyes, Port Clinton, Africa.

There is a white zebra herd at Mt Kenya, Africa, which, when discovered in 1899, was afforded the protection of the British Crown.  To find out more, visit here.
